Considered to be one of the greatest teams in baseball history, the 1998 New York Yankees compiled 125 wins, the most by any championship team. The team finished with a franchise record regular-season standing of 114–48, setting an American League record for wins in a season, a record that would stand until 2001, when the Seattle Mariners won 116 games in the regular season against 46 losses (the Yankees still hold the record for most regular season wins by a team that won the World Series). In the postseason, they swept the Texas Rangers in the American League Division Series, won the American League pennant by beating the Cleveland Indians four games to two in the American League Championship Series, and swept the San Diego Padres to capture their 24th World Series. Including the playoffs, the 1998 Yankees won a total of 125 games against 50 losses, an MLB record. Joe Torre earned Associated Press Manager of the Year honors, while outfielder Bernie Williams won the American League batting title and shortstop Derek Jeter was the AL leader in runs scored with 127. Added to the on-field accomplishments, the 1998 Yankees celebrated the 75th anniversary of their historic home, Yankee Stadium.

The 1998 Yankees were so good, they even impressed the team’s toughest critic, their owner, George Steinbrenner.  “The Boss” once said that the 1998 Yankees were “as good as any team I’ve ever seen. There’s never been anyone better.” Young superstars like the “Core Four” of Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera came into their own, while veteran players such as Bernie Williams, David Cone, David Wells and Darryl Strawberry burnished their reputations.

Offered is a limited edition 1998 New York Yankees team-signed photograph in a framed display with 32 signatures in black marker, including Hall of Famers Mariano Rivera, Tim Raines and Joe Torre, along with soon-to-be Hall of Famers Derek Jeter and stars David Cone, David Wells, Darryl Strawberry, Bernie Williams, Tino Martinez, Andy Pettitte, Paul O’Neill, Jorge Posada and Chuck Knoblauch. The 32 signatures are over each figure portrayed in the team photo which depicts the 1998 squad as well as team officials.  The 16 x 20-inch color photo bears the legend “1998 World Series Champions” in white letters across the top, along with the 1998 World Series logo in the upper left corner and the New York Yankees logo in the upper right corner.  The legend “New York Yankees” is in white letters below the team, along with a full caption identifying each of the figures in the photo, which was taken in front of the Yankee Stadium seating area behind home plate.  The “Yankee Stadium 75 1923 1998” logo is in the lower right corner. This photo is a limited edition “6/125” which has been penned in blue marker in the lower right corner. The photo is mounted in a royal blue paper matte with black borders. Below the photo is a 2 x 6-inch silver metal plaque with the caption “New York Yankees” in blue, and “1998 World Champions Win #6 of 125 vs. Oakland 7-5 April 12, 1998” in black. The photo, plaque and matte are displayed in a 20 x 24-inch black metal and glass frame.  This item comes fully authenticated with a LOA from Beckett Authentication.
