This significant 1998 New York Yankees World Series ring, issued to a Yankees minor league affiliate owner, commemorates the most successful season in franchise history. Mr. Getzler was the owner of the NY-Penn Watertown team, the Yankees affiliate. A year later, the Getzler family would move the team to Staten Island, and has since sold his interest. The 10K gold ring, produced by Balfour, features twenty-four small diamonds set with the team’s familiar “NY” logo, which in turn rests upon a navy blue stone. An additional twenty-four authentic small diamonds encircle the blue stone. “WORLDS CHAMPIONS 1998” appears along the perimeter in relief. The right shank features the name, “GETZLER,” and a depiction of the World Series trophy set against the backdrop of Yankee Stadium. The left shank features the team’s overall record that season, “125-50,” the Yankees team logo, and the words “Best Ever.” The weight of the gold, “10K,” and the manufacturer’s name, “Balfour,” are each engraved along the interior band. The Yankees’ overall record that season was 125-50, which marks the most wins by any team in a single season, thus establishing the club as one of the greatest teams in baseball history. This is a very scarce ring, as very few Yankee World Series rings from their recent dynasty year come to auction. Size 10-1/2 and weighs 32 grams. Comes with original solid wood and etched glass 7.5” x 6” x 2.5“ presentation box. Near Mint condition.
