San Diego Padres Hall of Famer Tony Gwynn used this Louisville Slugger B267 model bat on September 16th, 1998 against the Chicago Cubs at Qualcomm Stadium to get his 2,916th career hit. Gwynn hit his 33rd double of the season off Terry Mulholland as the the soon-to-be National League champions lost to the Cubs 6-3. “Mr. Padre” hit .321 in 1998 as the Padres reached their second World Series, with Gwynn adding 69 RBI, 35 doubles, and 35 walks against only 18 strikeouts for the Friars. Gwynn retired after the 2001 season and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2007.

This Louisville Slugger B267 model bat shows excellent use and is un-cracked. Gwynn’s number “19” is handwritten on the knob in black marker. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and white leather scuffs present on the barrel. The lower handle and knob have been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and a moderate coating of pine tar is on the mid-handle. Gwynn has signed the bat in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed in silver pen on this specially marked “/3000” stamp on the barrel with “2916”. This item comes with a signed Certificate of Authenticity from his widow Alicia Gwynn, stating that this bat was used for career hit 2916. This bat also comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B04505) for the game use and has been given the highest possible grade of GU 10.
