University of Wisconsin offensive lineman Aaron Gibson wore this white road jersey during the 1999 Rose Bowl game at the end of the 1998 College Football season. Gibson, a 1998 Consensus All-America selection, helped block for Wisconsin running back Ron Dayne all season, helping Dayne rush for over 5,000 of his then-NCAA record 7,125 career rushing yards. The Rose Bowl was no different, with Dayne coming within one yard of the single-game Rose Bowl record of 247 rushing yards. Wisconsin defeated the hometown UCLA Bruins in the Rose Bowl by a score of 38-31. Later in 1999, Gibson would become a first-round draft pick of the Detroit Lions, playing in the NFL until injuries forced him out of the league in 2004.

This white jersey features Gibson’s number “79” screen printed on the chest, back, and shoulders in red numerals. “GIBSON” is screen printed across the back shoulders in red letters over a matching white nameplate. A Rose Bowl patch is sewn on the right chest, a Wisconsin “W” patch on the left chest, and a red Reebok patch on the center of the chest. A Reebok size “54” tag is sewn on the back inside collar. A “100% Poly / Scrambler / +10[inch]” flag with “79” written in blue pen is attached to the tag. Gibson, at 6’6” and occasionally listed at over 400 pounds, was one of the largest players in NFL history, and was the first NFL player to be listed at over 400 pounds. This jersey, which shows light wear, comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
