In Group play, the U.S. finished an undefeated 3-0, outscoring opponents 13-1. In the knockout stage, the United States first defeated Germany, 3-2, before blanking Brazil, 2-0, to reach the final, with Akers scoring a late insurance goal to seal the victory. In the championship game, the United States and China played scoreless through regulation and extra time, before Chastain won the contest on a shootout goal.

Offered here is platinum 1999 FIFA Women’s World Cup championship ring that was presented to Akers, featuring an image of a soccer player kicking the ball. The inside of the band features engraving including “WWC 99”, “MICHELLE AKERS # 10” and “PLAT AA”. This ring is an approximate size 8 and weighs approximately 11.3 grams.
