Hall of Fame guard Kobe Bryant missed the first several weeks of the 1999-2000 NBA season with a broken hand incurred in a preseason game against the Washington Wizards. The then-21-year old, unaware of the fracture to his extremity suffered in the first quarter of the game, finished the contest with 18 points, five steals, and four assists in the first tune-up game for both teams. The former Lower Merion High School standout returned to play in 66 regular season games, averaging a then-career-high of 22.5 points per game and making his second of 18 career All-Star Games.

Offered in this lot is the wrist-to-elbow cast worn by Kobe Bryant during his recovery from the hand fracture sustained against the Wizards. This cast has been photo matched by Sports Investors Authentication to an image from the November 3, 1999 game where Kobe is seen on the bench wearing this cast and it shows heavy wear as the Class of 2020 Hall of Famer continued to run conditioning and rehabilitation drills during his recovery. Bryant has signed the cast in black marker. The cast comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication (200701D2), who have photo matched this cast being worn by Kobe and a LOA from PSA/DNA (B89905) for the signature.
