Mike Piazza was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2016 as New York Met. Piazza made his debut in 1992 and in 1993 was named the National League Rookie of the Year. Piazza would go on to be a 12 time All-Star, 10 of those being consecutive. Piazza is arguably one of the best offensive catchers in history, having 427 home runs, a .308 batting average and 1,335 RBI. Piazza spent his first full season in New York during the 1999 season where he batted .303 with 40 home runs and 124 RBI as he helped lead the Mets to the National League Championship Series.

This button-down size 50 Russell Athletic black road alternate jersey was worn by Piazza during the 1999 season. “NEW YORK” is sewn across the chest in blue, white and orange tackle twill, with his number “31” below sewn on in the same color pattern. Blue piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons and the lower front tail has the Russell Athletic size “50” tag with the “100% POLYESTER” and “2” EXTRA LENGTH” flags. The back of the jersey has his name “PIAZZA” across the back with the number “31” below, with all lettering in blue, white and orange color scheme tackle twill. The Mets skyline logo patch is on the left sleeve and the jersey displays light use with game used jersey expert Dave Miedema determining that this jersey dates to the 1999 season based on that this was the first season in which the Mets used black jerseys and the only year they were made by Russell Athletic. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
