Offered in this lot is a 1999 United States Women’s National Team World Cup practice used and signed Nike soccer ball originating from the personal memorabilia collection of USWNT legend Michelle Akers. Akers and the USWNT won their second World Cup title in 1999, defeating China in a thrilling penalty shootout. This soccer ball has been signed by many of the World Cup winners from 1999, including Akers, Mia Hamm, Kristine Lilly, Carla Overbeck, Tracy Ducar, Kate Sobrero, Tiffeny Milbrett, Cindy Parlow, Tisha Venturini, Tiffany Roberts, Danielle Fotopoulos, coach Tony DiCicco, and several others. Inscribed on the ball is “1999 World Cup Champs”. The signatures have been written in black marker. This ball comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication Services as well as a LOA from Michelle Akers. A portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue & Outreach Inc.
