Chicago Cubs catcher Joe Girardi wore this white, pinstriped button down jersey during the 2000 MLB season, his first with the Cubs. Girardi was named to the first and only All-Star team of his career in 2000, hitting six home runs, with 40 RBI and a .278 batting average, in only 106 games. A cerebral player, the three-time World Series champion is currently the skipper of the New York Yankees.
This jersey is a Majestic/Wilson home jersey. While Majestic was licensed to supply the Cubs in 2000, they added their logo and tags to this jersey after subcontracting through Wilson, according to jersey expert Dave Miedema. The Cubs “C” logo is sewn on the left chest area. “GIRARDI” and his number “8” are sewn on the back of the jersey in blue and red tackle twill. A Cubs walking bear patch is sewn on the left sleeve above a blue and white Majestic logo. A MLB logo is sewn on the outside back collar of this jersey. A Majestic Authentic collection tag with an attached size “50” flag is sewn on the front left tail. A “8 50 00 1” tag is sewn on the back inside collar. This jersey, which shows moderate wear, exhibits signs of pilling from catcher’s gear on the chest. This jersey comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
