One of the most dominant and feared pitchers of all time, Randy Johnson was in the prime of his career during the 2000 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks. Having already won two CY Young awards entering the season, and fresh off a 364k 12 CG Cy Young winning season in 1999, his first as a Diamondback, Johnson repeated his greatness in 2000 which would continue a run of four consecutive CY Young awards. In 2000 the Diamondbacks looked to improve on a 100-win season in 1999 and they came out of the gates aiming a World Series title. Johnson tied a modern record with six victories in April and would lead the league in strikeouts with 347 and in winning percentage. Johnson won his third Cy Young Award and became the third National League pitcher to win the trophy in consecutive seasons. Additionally, Johnson recorded his 3000th strikeout on September 10, 2000, as he whiffed Florida Marlins' third baseman Mike Lowell.
This 2000 Arizona Diamondbacks Randy Johnson jersey is an excellent example of a game-worn road jersey from his 3,000k and 3rd career Cy Young Season. Arizona 51″ is applied in colorful tackle twill to the chest, with “JOHNSON 51” similarly affixed to reverse. Team logo patch remains at left sleeve. Lower left front tail holds “Rawlings Authentic Collection” label with three flap tags announcing, “3 Inch Extra Length, [size] 52, Set 1 2000.” The jersey shows excellent use and comes with a letter of authentication from 100% Authentic.
