During the 2001/02 season Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 17 lows in many games in the white Carolina colorway.  This pair, the black/chrome edition was made for Michael to wear that season but never made it into the game.  Regardless, these Jordans’ were made specially for Jordan to wear as they have the 23 stitched on the back a feature distinguishing them from the retail pair. Along with that they are in Michael's size 13.5 and the size tagging is marked SAMPLE that only cements the fact that these shoes were specifically made for MJ.

Presented are prototype model Air Jordan Nike basketball sneakers, created for Basketball Hall of Fame NBA superstar Michael Jordan in the 2001-2002 NBA season.  At the time, Jordan had just come out of his second retirement to play for the Washington Wizards. The black leather size 13.5 shoes have silver hard-plastic highlights on the eyelets for the laces, as well as a silver hard-plastic heel with the legend “Jordan” inscribed on the outer side (behind a gold “Jumpman” logo inscribed on the black sole), and the “Jumpman” logo inscribed on the inner side.  The heel of the shoe has the logo embossed in silver above the numbers “23” embroidered in white.  The hard-plastic sole is black with white and blue treads.
