Pat Tillman played his fourth and final season with the Arizona  Cardinals in 2001. Moved by the geopolitical events surrounding the tragedy of September 11th, 2001, Tillman enlisted in the United States Army the following year. The former safety served in Iraq and Afghanistan, and he graduated from Ranger School in 2003. Tragically, Tillman was killed by friendly fire in 2004, ending the life of one of America’s first heroes of the 21st century.
