The 2001 New England Patriots started the season 0-2 and looked to be heading for another losing season. Then Drew Bledsoe was injured during the second game against the New York Jets, which opened the door for 2000 6th round draft pick and unknown quarterback Tom Brady to step in. The rest is history. Brady led the team to an 11-3 record the rest of the way and led them to an upset victory in Super Bowl XXXVI over the heavily favored St. Louis Rams for the Patriots first ever Super Bowl Championship.

Presented is the Super Bowl Championship ring awarded to team scout the late Jake Hallum. The ring was produced by Jostens and is 14-karat white gold. The ring contains 42 diamonds denoting the teams 42nd anniversary. The side of the bezel has a football shaped diamond on either side representing the two previous Super Bowls games in which they participated. The top of the ring, produced in brilliant platinum, features a sculpted NFL trophy embellished with a large marquis shaped diamond and two tapered baguette diamonds. The name "HALLUM" is in raised relief on the left side of the ring with “STAFF” also in raised relief below and “TEAM” engraved on a platinum banner. The left side also has a platinum Patriots helmet that is positioned onto the American flag, along with "14-5" the season record. The right side of the ring contains the year 2001, a platinum Lombardi trophy with a marquis cut diamond. The Super Bowl XXXVI logo and the inscription "PATS 20-RAMS 17", a sculpted image of former Foxboro stadium is above an inscription of USA. The total diamond weight of the ring is 2.61 carats. The inner band has “©JOSTENS 14K” engraved and the ring is a size 10 ½, weighing approximately 70.95 grams. This comes with the original 5 x 7 x 3-inch cherry-colored wood presentation box that has “NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS”, the Super Bowl XXXVI logo and “WORLD CHAMPIONS” printed in silver on the top, along with a certificate of appraisal from Richard Pongratz of Appraisal Services Inc. for a value of $15,000.
