Presented here is a game used and photo matched San Francisco Giants jersey worn by Barry Bonds during the 2002 All-Star Game and four other games prior during the 2002 season. Bonds wore this jersey during games on May 27th, June 16th, 26th, 27th, and July 9th, 2002 and has been photo matched to those games by Resolution Photomatching. Additional photo matching was done by Sports Investors Authentication, who matched this jersey to the May 27th game and the All-Star Game where Bonds hit two home runs while wearing this jersey. Additionally, Bonds reached base a total of 10 times on 17 plate appearances during the five-game stretch when he wore this jersey that was matched by Resolution, with two hits (the two aforementioned home runs), 8 walks, 4 runs scored, and 3 RBI. The cream-colored six-button jersey with orange and black stripes on the sleeves and collar features “GIANTS” arched across the chest in black-on-orange-on-gold tackle twill. A “2002 MLB ALL-STAR GAME” patch rests upon the right sleeve of the jersey. A circular “SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS” patch rests upon the left sleeve of the jersey just above a Russell “R” logo in black. A Russell Athletic MLB Authentic Collection manufacturer’s tag is affixed to the jersey’s left front tail. A “2002 25 BARRY BONDS AUTHENTICATED” patch rests upon the jersey’s left front tail. An MLB logo rests on the back of the jersey just below the rear collar. The number “25” appears on the back of the jersey in black-on-orange-on-gold tackle twill. The jersey displays excellent signs of game use and features a small black stain on the chest of the jersey on the right side.

The 2002 MLB All-Star Game between the American and National Leagues at Miller Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 9, 2002 wasn’t without controversy, as the midseason classic ended in a 7-7 tie when both teams ran out of pitchers. Bonds, making his 11th All-Star appearance, hit a deep fly ball off of AL starter Derek Lowe, but was robbed of a home run when Torii Hunter reached over the wall for the save. Bonds would get his revenge later, smacking a two-run homer in the third inning of the game. The two teams continued to duke it out, with the AL taking the lead in the seventh 6-5, but Lance Berkman would hit a two-run single, giving the NL a 7-6 lead. Omar Vizquel would hit an RBI triple in the eighth to tie the game up. After the game went into extra innings, Commissioner Bud Selig ruled that if nobody scored by the bottom of the 11th, the game would be called. The game remained tied after 11 innings and the crowd reacted to the rule with boos and chants. The MLB would react to the confusion in 2003 by stating that home field advantage would be given to the league that wins the midseason classic, thus eliminating the possibility of a tie during All-Star Games. The game used San Francisco Giants jersey worn by the MLB home run king during the 2002 MLB All-Star Game and four other games during Bonds’ 2002 NL MVP and NL batting champion season comes with LOAs from Resolution Photomatching (426505) who photo matched the jersey to the five games and Sports Investors Authentication (200117F9), who matched this jersey to the May 27th home run game and the 2002 All-Star Game on July 9th.
