The true mark of a great ballplayer is what he does during the “big games.” Throughout his 2-decade career with Yankees, Derek Jeter demonstrated time and again that he was one of those elite players. This bat is the perfect proof of his value in the post-season as this bat is one of the only known postseason multi-home run game used Derek Jeter bats to hit come up for auction.

The Captain used this bat for two truly spectacular playoff games in 2002. In the 1st inning of Game 1 of the that Fall’s ALDS, Jeter hit a home run off Angels starter Jarrod Washburn. This bat has been tentatively matched to a photo taken of this 1st inning home run, and though details are not strong enough to make an exact photo match, the large ball mark present on the bat is seen in the photo. The signed LOA from Jeter goes on to state that the Yankees legend used this bat for a second post season homer he hit the next day off Kevin Appier during the 3rd inning of Game 2. All told, Jeter collected five hits across the two games this bat was used.

The Louisville Slugger P72 model bat shows outstanding use and is un-cracked. The barrel shows many ball marks and stitch impressions along with blue ink transfers and white leather scuffs. Flaking of the finish on the front barrel has been stabilized. Cleat impressions are found on the right, left and back barrel and a light coat of Mota Stick is on the handle. Topping off this post-season gamer is Jeter’s signature in silver marker on the barrel. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B07393) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10 and a LOA from Jeter/Steiner for the game use and signature.
