Much like the previous two seasons – each of which ended with an NBA championship – the 2002 Los Angeles Lakers dominated the NBA. After finishing the regular season with a record of 58-24, head coach Phil Jackson’s squad ripped through the playoffs, capped by a 4-0 sweep of the New Jersey Nets in the NBA Finals to give the Lakers their third straight title. The unstoppable duo of Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal were at their best, with Bryant posting season averages of 25.2 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.5 assists, while O’Neal put up 27.2 points and 10.7 rebounds per game.

Offered here is a 2002 Los Angeles Lakers NBA championship ring that was gifted to actor Sylvester Stallone by O’Neal. This 14K gold beauty is centered by a light purple stone in the shape of a triangle, surrounded by the words “BACK BACK BACK”. Three triangular-shaped diamonds also appear, symbolizing Jackson’s famed “Triangle” offense, as well as the team’s three straight championships. Yellow diamonds make up the face’s background, while 14 diamonds appear around the bezel along with relief lettering that reads “LAKERS WORLD CHAMPIONS”. One side of the ring displays the team logo, the words “SLAM DUNK”, the year “2002” and an image of a microphone with the name “CHICK” (in honor of legendary Lakers announcer Chick Hearn who passed away in 2002). The opposite side is centered by an image of the NBA league logo, with the name “O’NEAL” above. Also shown are the Lakers’ regular season (58-24) and postseason (15-4) win-loss records.
