Offered in this lot is a pair of Jordan XVII sneakers worn by the Hall of Famer Michael Jordan during his 2001-02 season with the Washington Wizards; with a photo match to a game on February 12th, 2002 against the Los Angeles Lakers at STAPLES Center by Sports Investors Authentication. Jordan led the Wizards with 22 points in their 103-94 loss to the eventual 2001-02 NBA champions. This was one of the last match ups between Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. The former Tar Heel and 2001-02 All-Star added 22 points, six rebounds and five assists in Washington’s first game back after the All-Star Break.

Despite being one of the oldest players in the Association, Jordan was still a devastating offensive force as evidenced by his 51-point outburst against the Charlotte Hornets in Washington’s 107-90 win on December 29th, 2001 at the MCI Center. Jordan retired after spending an additional season with the Wizards, with his deserved Hall of Fame induction coming in 2009.

The Jordan XVII sneakers offered in this lot are white and blue, with a white Jumpman logo embroidered on each heel. Jordan’s number “23” is embroidered in copper below the Jumpman logo. A gold Jumpman toggle is located on the laces. The shoes are a size 14. A Jordan tag is present on the toe of the shoes, while a second Jumpman logo is printed on the blue midsoles. Jordan has signed both shoes in black marker. The Jordan XVII sneakers come with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication, who have photo matched these sneakers to the February 12th, 2002 game and a LOA from Resolution Photomatching, who have provide a LOA for an apparent photo match to the February 12th, 2002 game. Additionally, there is a LOA from JSA for Jordan’s signature. This is a rare opportunity to obtain a pair of photo matched Jordan game sneakers, especially, MJ game sneakers that have been photo matched with the late Kobe Bryant.
