2002 was a memorable one for Vladimir Guerrero, the Expos star as he fell one home run short of becoming only the fourth player in history to make the 40/40 Club – 40 steals and 40 home runs. Guerrero still had an amazing season with 39 home runs, 111 RBI and a lofty .336 batting average as he led the National League in both hits with 206 and total bases with 364. Guerrero was inducted into Hall of Fame as a member of the 2018 class.
This Original Maple Bat Co. (SAM) EM1 model bat was used by Guerrero during the 2002 season. This bat displays outstanding game use and has a crack in the handle. There are ball marks, stitch impressions present on the barrel. There is a heavy coating of pin tar on the lower barrel/upper handle area and Guerrero’s number “27” his hand written in gold marker on the knob. On the barrel end is hand written in black pen “34” 32 oz 03.14.02 EM1 V.G.”. Guerrero has signed his name in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “#27”. Please note that Guerrero’s signature has some minor chipping, but is still in good condition. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B14789) and has been graded a near-perfect GU 9. There is also a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C99687) for his signature.
