Having a bat used by a Major Leaguer is always a special collectible. If that bat was used for a home run, that becomes even more significant. To then have a bat used by baseball’s home run king Barry Bonds that was used for four of those career home runs, is a collectible home run. Goldin Auctions is proud to offer this Barry Bonds game used SAM bat that was consigned to us directly from the home run king himself, Barry Bonds as he marched toward the all-time home run record he set with 762.

Already a member of the prestigious 600 Home Run Club at the time, Bonds used this SAM Bat BONDS 2K1 during the 2003 season as he approached the legends of Willie Mays, Babe Ruth and Hank Aaron. Bonds used this very bat to hit career home run 628 off Detroit Tigers’ pitcher Steve Avery in the bottom of the eighth inning at Pacific Bell Park in San Francisco on June 7th. Bonds hit his next three home runs on consecutive days with this bat against the White Sox at Comiskey Park when he hit his 629th home run on June 10th off White Sox pitcher John Garland in the top of the fourth inning, his 630th career home run on June 11th off Mark Buehrle in the top of the fifth inning and the final home run hit with this bat was career home run 631 on June 12th off Bartolo Colon in the top of the ninth inning.

As would be expected with the hitting prowess of Barry Bonds, this bat displays outstanding use and is un-cracked. There are ball marks, blue ink transfers and cleat imprints present throughout the barrel. The handle has been taped in a combination of a criss-cross pattern on the upper handle and an overlapping style with padded knob to enhance the grip. The barrel has a cupped end which has the bats length (34”), weight (“31.9 oz”), date of manufacture (“04 30 03”) and additional markings, while the knob has a “MADE IN CANADA” sticker affixed. Bonds has signed his name in bold silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “6-7-03 #628” and “6-10-12-03 #629-31”. This historic bat comes with a LOA from Barry Bonds himself, attesting that he used this bat during the games in which he connected for home runs 628-631. There is also a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B13409), who have graded this bat a perfect GU 10 and has confirmed this bat to being used for Bonds' career home runs 628-631.
