Minnesota Twins catcher Joe Mauer wore this “Stars & Stripes” New Britain Rock Cats jersey during the 2003 MiLB season. Mauer, the first overall pick in the 2001 MLB Draft, split the 2002 season with the A+ Fort Myers Miracle and the AA Rock Cats. In 73 games with New Britain, Mauer hit for a healthy .341 average with four homers, 41 RBI, and a 1:1 strikeout to walk ratio. Mauer was a regular for the Twins by 2005, quickly becoming one of the best offensive catchers in baseball. The St. Paul native won three American League batting titles, making Mauer one of only four catchers in baseball history to win the batting title, and the only backstop to claim the crown in the American league.
