Presented is a 2003 Lou Holtz game ball for his 239th career coaching win on August 30, 2003 with the University of South Carolina Gamecocks displayed in a wooden South Carolina Gamecock stand. "The Big Game" brown pebbled leather football features a white presentation panel with the legend "Game Ball Presented to Coach Lou Holtz 239th Career Win Surpassed Woody Hayes in All-Time Coaching Victories South Carolina 14 La-Lafayette 7 August 30, 2003" painted in red and black letters. At the left of the caption is the Gamecock logo in black and red, while at the right is the SEC logo, also in black and red. The logo "The Big Game" is embossed in black on the opposite top panel. The football is mounted at the bottom center of a 10 x 8 1/2-inch brown wood platform topped by a large 19-inch tall 3D carving of the Gamecock logo. Holtz guided South Carolina to a 14-7 win over Louisiana-Lafayette on August 30, 2003, the first game of the season. His fifth season at the helm saw South Carolina finish 5-7 overall with a 2-6 SEC record.
