Arguably the greatest basketball player of all-time, Michael Jordan came out of retirement in 2001, after spending the previous two years as part-owner and President of Basketball Operations for the Washington Wizards, Jordan returned to the court for the start of the 2001-02 season donning a Wizards uniform where he ultimately finished his illustrious career at the end of the 2002-03 season. Jordan at the age of 39 and two weeks shy of his 40th birthday, dropped a season-high 45 points on the New Orleans Hornets on February 1, 2003 as the Wizards defeated the Hornets 109-104. In Jordan’s final season, he finished the year averaging 20.0 points per game, but the Wizards failed to qualify for the playoffs. Jordan wore these “Jordan XVIII” shoes during his 45-point performance where he was guarded most of the night by Stacey Augmon. These size 14 white leather sneakers feature a fold-over flap that covers the laces and the “Air Jordan” logo and his “23” are in silver on top of the flap and show appropriate wear. The shoes have a blue outside base and instep and have each been signed by Jordan in black marker and inscribed “2-3-03”. These sneakers come with a full LOA from Stacey Augmon, who was gifted these sneakers by Jordan and full LOAs from PSA/DNA (V01736 & AA08134) for the signatures on each sneaker.
