In the middle of the New York Yankees modern dynasty run, the 2003 team won the sixth of nine straight American League Eastern division titles with a 101-61 record and defeated the Boston Red Sox four games to three in a memorable American League Championship Series before losing the World Series to the surprising Florida Marlins.
This elegant 14K gold, 46-gram, size-11.5 Balfour ring is in near mint condition and has the Yankees bat in hat logo with red, white and blue inlaid gem stones and cursive Yankees script on the top over a bed of approximately 40 diamonds and surrounding raised lettering reading:“Yankees American League Champions.”
The ring was originally presented to former advance scout and head video coordinator Charlie Wonosowicz, who earned five World Series rings with the Yankees during his 21-years with the team. Wonsowicz name is engraved on one shank above the Yankees iconic interlocking NY logo superimposed over a relief of Yankee Stadium with the word, “Pride” engraved just beneath. Opposite shank has 2003 engraved over a Yankees bat in hat logo and banner reading: “1903-2003” with the word “Tradition” underneath. Charlie Wonsowicz name and Balfour©14K are engraved on the rings interior band. Ring is contained in a 6 ½” x 3” blue velvet lined wooden box with engraved display window.
