If any player this side of Ed Kranepool can lay claim to the title “Mr. Met,” 10-year, Mets’ veteran David Wright would be that man. Second only to Kranepool (1,853 to 1,367) in games-played as a Met, Wright’s recently signed eight-year, $138 million contract should ensure that he will pass Kranepool sometime in the next three or four years. Wright is already the Mets all-time career leader in hits, runs scored, total-bases, doubles, RBI and walks, and is second in home runs to Daryl Strawberry, whom he should also pass within a year or two. Wright signed this PSA/DNA pre-certified, size-48, game used 2004, black Mets jersey in bold silver sharpie on his blue number 5 on the back with “5” and “Game Used Rookie Wear” inscriptions, and again in silver sharpie on the front, with a “5” inscription and his rookie-season stats: “69 Games, 263 Abs, 41 Runs, 77 Hits, 14 HR, 40 RBI, 6 SB.” The sleek, black jersey is adorned with the name of long-time Mets broadcaster “Bob Murphy” stitched above the Mets logo on the left sleeve and “Ya Gotta Believe” Tug, in memory of former Mets reliever Tug McGraw, underneath a “Shea Stadium 40th Anniversary 1964-2004” patch on the right sleeve; comes with Steiner Sports COA, card and three 4” x 6” color photos of Wright holding the Jersey.
