Joe Mauer had some pretty big shoes to fill his rookie season when he took over for the traded A. J. Pierzynski . Mauer was hitting .308 when injuries sidelined him for the remainder of the 2004 season. This offered Rawlings 491B model bat is un-cracked, displays outstanding use and was used by Mauer during the 2004 season. There are many ball marks and stitch impressions that are visible on the barrel along with blue ink transfers. A light coat of pine tar is on the handle and a spiral of athletic tape is on the lower handle to enhance the grip. The model number “491B”, order number “406” and year “04” are stamped into the knob along with the weight “32” and “Mauer” hand written in black ink. His number “7” is on both ends in black marker along with Terry Tiffee’s number “32”, opening the possibility the bat was also used by the .273-hitting utility man. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (I02188) for the game use.
