For 86 years, Boston Red Sox fans had to watch other teams hoist the World Series trophy and in the previous four World Series appearances prior to 2004 (1946, 1967, 1975 and 1986) they would lose out in seven games. Along came the “Idiots” of 2004, led by Manny Ramirez on the offensive side, who had 43 home runs, 130 RBI and a .308 batting average as the Red Sox would win a historic American League Championship Series against their hated rivals – the New York Yankees in which they erased a 3-0 deficit. Then, they would bring joy to all of Red Sox Nation by sweeping the St. Louis Cardinals to win that elusive World Series title.

This white home Russell Athletic jersey was worn by Ramirez in 2004. “RED SOX” is sewn across the chest in Tuscan font with red-on-navy tackle twill. The back of the jersey has “24” sewn on in McAuliffe style number font in red-on-navy tackle twill. A MLB logo is sewn on the upper back neck. Red piping runs around the collar and down both sides of the buttons. A Russell Athletic logo is embroidered in navy and red on the left sleeve and the Russell Athletic Authentic Collection tag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. A size “54 100% Polyester” flag is attached to the Russell tag and a “2004” tag is sewn on below. This jersey shows light to moderate game use and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
