It’s not very often that a coach receives and award named for one of his players but that is the case with “The Lott Trophy” originally presented to former San Francisco 49ers head coach Bill Walsh as a founding board member of the Pacific Club Impact Foundation that presents the award annually to College Football’s Defensive IMPACT (Integrity, Maturity, Performance, Academics, Community, and Tenacity) Player of the Year. The award is designed to recognize the personal character of the winning player as well as his athletic excellence. This hefty (22 lb.) brass trophy on a solid 10” long black marble base depicts legendary S.F. 49ers Hall of Fame cornerback Ronnie Lott doing what he did best, administering a jarring hit on a wide receiver and contains a pair of name plates reading: “The Lott Trophy” and “The Pacific Club Impact Foundation Bill Walsh Founding Board Member” and comes with a Letter of Provenance signed by Walsh’s son Craig.
