When Alex Rodriguez retired during the 2016 season, he was fourth on the all-time career home run list, only trailing Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth. Rodriguez’s 404th career home run came during the July 9th game between the Yankees and Cleveland Indians at Yankee Stadium. Rodriguez’s first-inning home run off Indians pitcher Scott Elarton in the bottom of the first inning was the 23rd home run of the season and 404th of his storied career.

This is the very Louisville Slugger P72 model bat that Rodriguez used to hit his 23rd home run of the 2005 season and 404th of his career during that July 9th, 2005 game. This bat displays outstanding use and is un-cracked. There are numerous ball marks, stitch impressions, white leather scuffs and cleat imprints present on the barrel. There is a coating of Mota Stick on the handle. Rodriguez signed his name in silver marker on the barrel and inscribed “game used HR#23/HR 404 vs. Cleveland Elarton”. This bat comes with a full LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15234) and has been attributed to being used for his 404th career home run. PSA/DNA has also graded this bat a perfect GU 10. There is an additional LOA from Alex Rodriguez attesting that he used this bat to hit his 23rd home run of the season and 404th of his career.
