One year after the Boston Red Sox put an end to the arduous “Curse of the Bambino” the Chicago White Sox stopped Major League Baseball’s second longest championship drought at 88 years with the team’s first World Series victory since their championship in 1917. Led by fiery skipper Ozzie Guillen the White Sox staged a tremendous pennant race and post season run, clinching the American League Central Division by six games over the Indians, and defeating the Red Sox and Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim to set up a Fall Classic matchup against the National League’s Houston Astros.
This Tourneau Swiss Quartz watch was originally presented to White Sox scout Glenn Murdock, whose name is etched on the reverse side of the watch face. The rectangular black face features both a White Sox logo and an image of the Commissioner’s Trophy. The face features three silver hands and a date of the month square. The outside of the face is bordered by two rows of 10 diamonds. The band is made of stainless steel, and has a folding clasp. The back of the watch is also engraved with “Stainless Steel Case / Water Resistant 3ATM / 956 114 / 5785”. This watch comes in a brown wood presentation box, with “Sox World Series Champions 2005” and “Glenn Murdock” etched on the lid. Please note that while the watch is in good condition, it is not currently not running.
