Former Cleveland Indians pitcher Cliff Lee wore this jersey in 2005, his breakout season. The big hurler from Arkansas went 18-5 in 2005, finishing in fourth place in American League Cy Young Award voting. Lee, who would be named the AL Cy Young in 2008, held down a 3.79 ERA in 2005 for an Indians team that would finish with a 93-69 record and a second place finish in the AL Central.
This navy blue button down jersey is the alternate home jersey worn by the Tribe in 2005. “INDIANS” is sewn across the chest in red, blue, and silver tackle twill. “LEE” and “31” are sewn on the back of the jersey in red, blue, and silver tackle twill. Lee’s name is sewn over a navy blue nameplate below a MLB logo. A Chief Wahoo patch is sewn on the left sleeve over a white Majestic logo. Gray piping runs down the chest of the jersey and around the collar and sleeve openings. A Majestic Authentic tag is sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. “+2[inch] slv”, “[size] 50”, and “2005” flags are attached to the tag. Per jersey authenticator Dave Miedema, there is an inconsistency in the interior appliqué due, in part, to Lee switching from the number “34” to “31” during the ’05 season, although there is no clear evidence of this number. This jersey, which shows moderate wear, comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema for game use.
