Barry Bonds wore this black San Francisco Giants batting helmet on May 9th, 2006, during a Giants home contest against the Chicago Cubs. The Giants won this game 6-1, with Bonds recording a single and a walk before being pulled for a late-game defensive replacement. Bonds, playing in his penultimate MLB season at the age of 41, recorded 26 homers, 77 RBI, and a .270 batting average. Despite his advancing age, Bonds was still a nightmare for pitchers, with opposing hurlers issuing him 38 intentional walks en route to a MLB-best .454 OBP. Bonds finished the season with 734 home runs, for the moment 21 dingers behind the legendary Hank Aaron.
This black batting helmet has a flap over the right ear and the Giants interlocking “SF” logo applied to the front. “BONDS” and a black and orange MLB logo are applied to the back of the helmet. All of the helmet’s interior padding is intact, however the back-right area of the helmet has an approximately four inch long crack terminating just behind the ear flap. Bonds has signed the brim of this black Rawlings helmet in silver marker. This helmet comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (BB 152225) and a LOA from Barry Bonds.
