Detroit Tigers manager Jim Leyland wore this jersey during the 2006 World Series, when his Tigers matched up against the St. Louis Cardinals. The Cardinals won this series in five games and Leyland, who retired in 2013, led the Tigers to the American League pennant in 2006 and 2012.
This white, button down home jersey has the Tigers Olde English “D” logo sewn on the left breast in navy tackle twill. Navy piping runs down the chest and around the collar. “LEYLAND” is sewn across the shoulders in navy tackle twill beneath a MLB logo. “10” is sewn below his name in navy tackle twill. A 2006 World Series patch is sewn on the right sleeve, while the left sleeve has a navy Majestic logo. Majestic and “10 44 06 329” tags are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. Leyland signed the “1” digit in silver marker, adding the inscription “World Series Game Used 2006”. A COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (C03598) authenticates the signature.
Also included is a pair of Leyland’s white home pants. Navy blue piping runs down the sides of these Majestic pants. Majestic and “10 33-35 27 06 168” tags are sewn on the inside waistband of these pants. Leyland signed the top of the left leg in blue marker, adding the inscription “Game Used 2006”. This signature comes with a COA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentications (C03599). Both the jersey and pants come with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
