Big-swinging outfielder Gary Sheffield made a lot of stops along the way during his highly productive 22-year Major League Baseball career. That included two seasons in Detroit toward the end of his career when “Sheff” was chasing the 500-home run plateau. Sheffield came as close as you can get to 500 home runs when he hit his 498th and 499th career home runs during the September 26th, 2008 game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Comerica Park. Sheffield wore this navy Tigers home helmet during home games of the 2008 season and specifically, the September 26th game. This Rawlings helmet is a size 7 3/8 and features the Tigers’ Old English “D” on the front in white. Sheffield’s number “3” and the MLB logo stickers are affixed to the back of the helmet. The inside of the helmet has a black padded head band, along with pads for the top, back and left ear flap. This helmet displays moderate game use and comes with a LOA from MEARS (316239) for the game use and an MLB Authenticated hologram (LH175462) for use of this helmet during the September 26th, 2008 game.
