Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was awarded this National Sports Legacy trophy in 2008 by the National Civil Rights Museum in conjunction with the Memphis Grizzlies. Abdul-Jabbar is a noted activist for Muslim people in the United States, as well as a member of the President's Council on Fitness, Sports, and Nutrition and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom. This trophy measures approximately 10.5 inches high, with a 4.5 x 4.5-inch base. This clear trophy is etched with “The National Civil Rights Museum and the Memphis Grizzlies / National Sports Legacy Award / Presented by FedEx / to Kareem Abdul Jabbar / January 21, 2008 / For your significant contributions to civil and human rights; / And a life’s work inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.” A Grizzlies logo and the NCRM logo are etched on the base of the trophy. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
