September 11th has become a solemn date in the United States, especially in New York City.  Every year on September 11th the New York Yankees pay tribute to those who lost their lives on that date in 2001, and in 2009 they wore a special red cap for the commemoration. Alex Rodriguez wore this red cap featuring the iconic Yankees interlocking “NY” logo embroidered on the front, but with white stars on a blue field in the left half, and white stripes on a red field in the right half.  The back of the cap featured the MLB logo embroidered in red, white and blue with white stars in the blue background (left) and white strips in the red background (right).

Presented is the cap that A-Rod wore that night.  Rodriguez has signed and inscribed the cap’s bill in black marker “Game Used 2009 9/11” beneath his signature. The Yankees lost a 10-4 contest with the Baltimore Orioles that night at the new Yankee Stadium, but ended the 2009 season with 103 regular season wins and their 27th World Series championship. That night in September, Rodriguez went 2-for-3 with three RBI including his 25th home run of the season, a three-run shot to left off Orioles pitcher Chris Tillman. This cap comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (LH5617865) which dates this cap to the September 11, 2009 game.  This cap also comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature.
