The great Alex Rodriguez wore this pinstriped New York Yankees home uniform during Game 6 of the 2009 World Series. Rodriguez and his Yankees faced off against the Philadelphia Phillies, the defending World Series champions, in a battle of high-flying offenses. Rodriguez hit a home run and drove in six RBI, the second-most on the Yankees behind World Series MVP Hideki Matsui, while adding three doubles, three walks, and a stolen base for the Bronx Bombers.
The Yankees 7-3 victory in Game 6 gave the Bombers their 27th World Series title in distinctive fashion on their home turf, with Andy Pettitte earning his fourth win of the 2009 Postseason. Rodriguez went 1-2 with two walks and two runs scored in Game 6. He scored the Yankees first run of the game on Hideki Matsui’s two-run jack as well as the Yankees final run of the contest on a Matsui two-RBI double.
Offered in this lot are Rodriguez’s pants and jersey from Game 6 of the 2009 World Series. The jersey is a white, pinstriped button-down with the Yankees “NY” logo sewn on the left breast in navy tackle twill. Rodriguez’s number “13” is sewn on the back of the jersey in the same fashion. A 2009 World Series patch is sewn on the right sleeve and a 2009 Yankee Stadium Inaugural Season patch is sewn on the left sleeve. A Majestic tag with attached size “48” and “2009” flags is sewn on the front left tail. Rodriguez has signed the chest of this jersey below the “NY” logo in blue marker, inscribing “Game Used 2009 / World Series Champions! / Game 6” in addition to his signature.
Also included in this lot are Rodriguez’s pants from Game 6 of the World Series. These white, pinstriped pants are veritably covered in dirt stains and have a Majestic tag sewn on the back inside waistband. A “13 Rodriguez 35-40 34 C 09” swatch is sewn next to the Majestic tag. Rodriguez has signed the left leg of these pants in blue marker, inscribing “Game Used 2009 / World Series Champions! / Game 6” in addition to his signature. A wrapped piece of Dubble Bubble gum from Game 6 is also included with these pants. The pants and jersey each have an individual LOA signed by Alex Rodriguez.
