On September 9th, 2009, Derek Jeter tied the great Lou Gehrig’s record for most hits in a Yankee uniform. In this game against the Tampa Bay Rays, Jeter went 3-4, with his final hit, a seventh inning single, equalizing Gehrig’s record of 2,721 hits. Jeter, who also added a stolen base and a walk, was predictably a top performer for the New York ballclub. The Yankees went on to win 4-2, with all of their runs scored during an eighth inning rally.

This ball, an Allan H. Selig Official Major League baseball, was used during this historic game. It displays excellent evidence of use, with numerous scuff and dirt marks. Jeter signed this ball to the right of the sweet spot, adding the inscription “2721 / ties Gehrig Yankee / Record 9-9-09 / Game used” in blue pen. His signature is located directly below the “Yankee Stadium 2009 Inaugural Season” logo. This baseball comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 617785) for game use and signature, as well as a Steiner Sports Authenticated hologram (155751).
