2009 was a big year for former New York Yankees shortstop and future Hall of Fame Derek Jeter. First the Yankees opened up the new Yankee Stadium. Second, Jeter made his 10th All-Star team and was the starting shortstop for the American League, and to cap of his season, Jeter and the Yankees won the franchise’s 27th World Series title, with a six-game victory over the Philadelphia Phillies in the Fall Classic.

Offered is the very jersey worn by The Captain during the 2009 All-Star Game in St. Louis, Missouri on July 14th, 2009. Jeter was hitless in the game in three plate appearances, but managed to reach base twice and scored both times as the American League defeated the National League 4-3. This size 48 road gray Majestic button-down jersey features “NEW YORK” sewn across the chest in navy blue and white tackle twill. The back of the jersey has Jeter’s iconic number “2” sewn on navy blue and white tackle twill with the MLB logo patch sewn on the upper back neck in red, white and blue. Each sleeve is capped with a ribbed navy blue and white pattern and the Majestic tag is sewn on the bottom front left tail with “2009” and “48” flags.

Each sleeve has patches with the left sleeve having the “YANKEE STADIUM 2009 INAUGURAL SEASON” patch and the right sleeve having the “MLB All*Star Game 2009” patch. The jersey shows light game use, consistent with being worn for minimal games. Jeter signed his name in bold silver marker on the middle arm of the “2” on the back of the jersey. Jeter’s signature comes with a COA from Steiner Sports and a STICKER ONLY from PSA/DNA (T08367) for the signature and the original purchase LOA from another auction house confirming the authenticity of this jersey.
