This Official 2009 World Series Allan H. Selig baseball was used during Game 5 of the 2009 World Series between the New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies. It has also been signed by future Yankees Hall of Famer Derek Jeter. This ball was used during the bottom of the third inning of Game 5, the penultimate game in the Fall Classic. Yankees reliever David Robertson pitched the ball to Phillies third baseman Pedro Feliz, with the pitch landing in the dirt and the ball being taken out of play. Feliz later popped up for the first out of the inning. The Phillies went on to win this game 8-6, however the Yankees would win Game 6 to earn their 27th World Series title.
Derek Jeter has signed the panel to the south of Commissioner Selig’s stamped signature. The Yankee captain signed his name in blue pen. This baseball shows good evidence of game use and comes with a COA from Steiner Sports for the signature and a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 773013) for use during Game 5.
