Newly minted Hall of Famer Jim Thome wore this gray Chicago White Sox road jersey on April 15th, 2009. The White Sox played the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park, with both teams wearing “42” jerseys in honor of Jackie Robinson Day. The Tigers won this game 9-0, as Thome finished hitless in the designated hitter position. Thome split the 2009 season between Chicago and the Los Angeles Dodgers, playing in 107 games for Chicago against 17 with the Dodgers. With Chicago, Thome hit 23 of his 612 career home runs, adding 74 RBI and a .249 batting average. Thome finished his career after the 2012 MLB season, and in 2018 was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on his first ballot.

This gray White Sox button-down jersey has “Chicago” sewn across the chest in black and white tackle twill. “42” is sewn on the back of the jersey in black and white tackle twill in place of Thome’s customary number “25”. A diamond-shaped White Sox patch is sewn on the left sleeve above a black Majestic logo. A Majestic tag and a “25 09 [size] 52” swatch are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. This jersey comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH 299420), dating the use of this jersey to the April 15th game.
