Since breaking into the Majors in 2003, Miguel Cabrera has proved himself to be a star. Able to play third base, first base or the outfield, Cabrera has become instrumental in leading the Marlins to a World Championship, the Tigers to a World Series appearance and winning the Triple Crown in 2012 – the first time since 1967. More often than not hovering at the top of the offensive statistics, 2009 was no exception. This bat dates from that season in which he batted .324 with 34 home runs. More specifically, this bat was used to hit career home run number 203, which was the 28th of the 2009 season during the September 4th game in Tampa where the Tigers beat the Rays 4-3.

As typical with the hitting prowess of Cabrera, this SAM Bat MC 1 model bat displays excellent use and has a crack on the handle from the top of the fourth inning at-bat in the September 9th game in Kansas City. The crack has been secured with clear tape. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and cleat imprints present on the barrel. There is a light coating of pine tar on the upper handle/lower barrel and the lower handle has been taped covering the end of the knob to enhance the grip. “24” is hand written in black marker on the knob, which has a white Maple Leaf sticker affixed. Cabrera’s “24” is hand written in black marker on the barrel end as well. Cabrera signed his name in contrasting gold marker on the black barrel and inscribed “CAREER HOME RUN #203”. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15204) who have graded this bat a solid GU 8 and attributed this bat to Cabrera’s career home run number 203. There is a MLB Authenticated hologram (LH430591) which authenticates that this bat was broken during the September 9th game in Kansas City and a LOA from SGC (AA03116) which authenticates Cabrera’s signature.
