Serving as the Yankees closer for 17 seasons, Mariano Rivera established many records for his position, and has pioneered a path to the Hall of Fame, which has never been traveled.  In 2011, the year after Trevor Hoffman’s departure from Major League Baseball, Rivera was hot on his tail in quest of owning the All-time mark.  His pursuit of the saves record reached a climax in the final month of the season; on September 13, he collected his 600th save, making him just the second pitcher to accomplish the feat. Four days later, on September 17, he saved his 601st game, tying him with Hoffman for the most in MLB history.

The offered base was on the field of play during the 6-9th inning for Rivera’s All-time record tying 601st save.  The base shows excellent use and was used for third base in Toronto during this milestone achievement.  Additionally, the base was re-used the following season on Father’s Day, hence the side label bearing the baby blue Father’s Day logo and comes with two MLB Authenticated holograms (FJ666026 and EK053635) verifying the use.
