Detroit Tigers slugger Miguel Cabrera won the AL batting title with a .344 average and led the league in on-base percentage and doubles. It was his eighth straight 100 RBIs season and the fifth straight season he posted 30 home runs. The following season, Cabrera would boost his power numbers becoming the first player since Carl Yastrzemski to win the coveted Triple Crown since 1967.

Cabrera used this Original Maple Bat Co. (SAM) MC1 model bat during the 2011 season. During the August 10th game at Progressive Field in Cleveland, Cabrera used this bat for the final time when he grounded out to pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez during the top of the second inning. The bat, which features outstanding game use, was cracked from the upper handle all the way down to the end of the barrel. There are numerous ball marks, ball stitch impressions and cleat imprints present on the barrel. There is moderate coating of pine tar present on the upper handle/lower barrel and “24” is hand written in black marker on the knob, which has a white Maple Leaf sticker affixed. Cabrera’s “24” is hand written in black marker on the barrel end as well. Cabrera signed his name in contrasting gold marker on the black barrel and inscribed “1st AL BATTING TITLE 2011”. This bat comes with individual MLB Authenticated holograms (FJ266955 for the barrel and FJ266956 for the handle) that authenticate this bat was broken during the top of the second inning on August 10th, 2011 in Cleveland. There is also a STICKER ONLY from JSA (WP092903) for Cabrera’s signature.
