Just two years removed from high school and four years since he was still in Little League, Mike Trout “The Millville Meteor” [out of Millville New Jersey] burst on the big league scene and has been drawing comparisons to players like Mickey Mantle and Ken Griffey Jr. ever since. It looks like Trout got plenty of use from this 33.5-inch, 33.2-ounce Old Hickory J143 model bat (labeling period 2011) before it finally cracked on the upper end of its handle. Cupped-end bat reveals evidence of extremely heavy use with a smattering of blue ink transfers from the sweet spot to the end of the barrel and a heavy coating of Mota Stick on the grip end of the handle and around the “Old Hickory” labeling. The knob end of the bat has been wrapped in Trout’s now trademark spiral adhesive tape wrap to enhance the lower hand grip and Trout signed the bat in bold blue sharpie with a “2011 G/U” inscription near the “33.5 Pro Maple J143 branding. Fantastic piece of hardwood grades and outstanding “10” and comes with PSA/DNA certification #1B06047 for the bat and #X90321 for the signature as well as an Anderson Athletics LOA signed by Trout. This style of Old Hickory bat (Brown Barrel / Natural Handel were Trout’s preferred bat of choice during his call up to the show in 2011.
