This baseball was used during the Los Angeles Angels July 9th, 2011 game against the Seattle Mariners. Mike Trout, a future All-Star and two-time American League MVP, was playing in the second game of his major league career. Trout, hitting ninth, recorded his first major league hit in this game, recording an infield single against Mariners starter Michael Pineda. Mark Trumbo scored on a throwing error on this play, meaning that Trout was not credited with the RBI. He finished the game 1-3 with a walk and two runs scored. This baseball was used during Hank Conger’s at-bat in the third inning, immediately before Trout recorded his maiden hit. The ball in question, an Official Major League Baseball Allan H. Selig sphere, was hit foul by Conger and then taken out of play. Trout has signed this baseball in blue pen on the side panel and inscribed "Game Used 1st Hit game 7-9-11". The ball shows excellent evidence of game use, and comes with a MLB Authenticated hologram (FJ 580402) for game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication for the signature and inscription.
