On July 21st, 2012, the Minnesota Twins took on the Kansas City Royals at Kauffman Stadium while wearing 1909 St. Paul Gophers throwback uniforms. The Gophers were a barnstorming team unaffiliated with the formal Negro Leagues active between 1907 and 1914. The Royals, also dressed in Negro Leagues throwback uniforms, emerged as the 7-3 victors in this visually stunning contest. Offered here is Trevor Plouffe’s full uniform, including his pants and jersey from the July 21st game. The jersey is navy, with a three-button front and navy sun collar. A St. Paul Gophers logo is sewn on the left chest in white tackle twill. Plouffe’s number “24” is sewn on the back of the jersey in white Varsity Bold tackle twill. An AIS size “48” tag is sewn on the front left tail. The jersey is accompanied by a MLB Authenticated hologram (EK 232378). Also included in this lot are Plouffe’s navy Gophers pants. The pants have an AIS size “36” tag with an attached “29” flag sewn on the back inside waistband. Near the tag is a “24” swatch also sewn on the waistband.
