Ah, the Band of Bearded Brothers. From "The Siesta" (Napoli) to "The Ironsides" (Gomes) to "The Saltine" (Saltalamacchia) to "The Tease" (Ortiz) and beyond, those hirsute heroes of the 2013 Red Sox captured our nationwide attention as much for their flair and solidarity as for their Cinderella story of being just the second team in MLB history to go from cellar dwellers in their division to World Series champions the very next year. And thus the Fenway Faithful enjoyed their 3rd championship in 9 years. Take that, Curse of the Bambino. This Jostens silver-elite, size 12 ring was given to Boston's minor-league coaching assistant Claudio Sanchez Moreno.
The first '13 Red Sox ring that we've seen come to market, it rates Near Mint and comes with the elegant wooden presentation box (8" x 4-3/4" x 2-1/2", EX/MT) with a frosted plexiglas window reading, "BOSTON RED SOX WORLD CHAMPIONS 2013 / CLAUDIO SANCHEZ." A technical description is provided by the accompanying Jostens Certificate of Appraisal that states, "The top of the ring reads 'Boston Red Sox World Champions' and is enhanced with 126 round cubic zirconias. In the center of the ring are 16 synthetic baguette-cut sapphires surrounding the Commissioner's Trophy. The trophy is set on top of a man-made blue spinel tablet stone. On top of the trophy is the Boston Red Sox logo set with nine synthetic rubies on top of the ring. Below the trophy is the year 2013. The left side of the ring features a circular Boston Strong logo. The B is filled with red enamel. Below the logo is the year 2013. The right side of the ring features the recipient's name. Below the name are two Commissioner's Trophies with the years representing how many times the recipient has won the World Series with the Boston Red Sox organization. Below that are the recipient's number and position or title. The inside of the ring features an arbor with an image of a bearded man and the wording 'Bearded Brothers 10-30-13.' The ring weighs 45 grams in Silver Elite. ESTIMATED INSURANCE REPLACEMENT VALUE: $5,525.00"
