For the second year in a row Mike Trout narrowly missed being named the AL MVP. In any other year his sophomore season numbers would have put him over the top: .323 average, 27 homers, 33 stolen bases and 97 RBI. This is one of the bats the Angels star used during his second summer as a big leaguer. This bat was used for the last time during the June 23, 2013 game when the bat was cracked in bottom of the second inning on ground ball off Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Charlie Morton. This bat has been conclusively photo matched by Resolution Photomatching to the June 23rd, 2013 game.

This Old Hickory MT27 model bat displays excellent use and has a crack in the handle. The barrel shows many ball marks with stitch impressions. There are white leather ball scuffs and cleat imprints plus the impression of a weighted batting donut. As is Trout’s custom, the lower handle and knob have been taped in a spiral pattern to enhance his grip. A moderate coat of Mota Stick is on the lower handle and a light coat of pine tar is on the upper. Trout’s number “27” is handwritten on the knob and the bat’s length “33.5” is stamped into the wood. Best of all, Trout has signed the barrel in contrasting silver pen, adding “13 G/U”. This comes with an MLB Authenticated hologram (EK707670) dating this bat to the June 23, 2013 game and a LOA from Mike Trout via Anderson Authentics (1462), which authenticates the game use and signature. There is also a LOA from Resolution Photomatching, who have photo matched this bat to the June 23rd, 2013 game.
