The 2014 FIFA World Cup was held in the soccer-mad nation of Brazil, with a supremely talented Brazilian squad the early favorites to take home the silverware. Brazil made it to the semifinals of the World Cup, only to be shocked 7-1 by the eventual champions Germany. Germany faced off against Argentina in a highly anticipated final match, with die mannschaft attacker Mario Gotze scoring the match’s lone goal deep into extra time. This was Germany’s fourth FIFA World Cup title and first as a unified Germany. Offered in this lot is a 2014 FIFA World Cup Trophy. This trophy depicts the Greek goddess Nike supporting a globe and standing on a black pedestal. A gold plaque affixed to the pedestal reads “FIFA WORLD CUP / BRAZIL” below the 2014 FIFA World Cup logo, with both rendered in high relief. Etched in high relief on the base of the trophy is “FIFA WORLD CUP”. This trophy comes in a red and white presentation box. It is accompanied by a LOA from a Brazilian Football Confederation employee.
