Chicago Cubs ace Jake Arrieta wore this 1988 Cubs Turn Back the Clock home uniform on August 10th, 2014, against the “faux-back” clad Tampa Bay Rays. This game went 12 innings, with Anthony Rizzo driving in the winning run on an RBI single in the bottom of the 12th. Carlos Villanueva earned the win in this 3-2 Cubs victory.
The offered jersey is a pinstriped white pullover, with the Cubs logo sewn on the left chest in red, white, and blue tackle twill. A Cubs logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve above a Majestic logo. Arrieta’s number “49” is sewn on the back of the jersey in blue tackle twill. A MLB logo patch is sewn on the back outside collar, and a Majestic tag with size “48” and “1988” flags is sewn on the front left tail. Also included in this lot are Arrieta’s pants from the August 10th contest. These pants are white with blue pinstripes and a blue waistband. A Majestic tag and a “49 35-46 24 OB C 1988” swatch are sewn on the inside of the waistband. The jersey and pants come with individual MLB Authenticated holograms (Jersey: HZ 565933, Pants: HZ 565895).
